Mustache - Day 15

So here's my admirable 2-week-old 'stache. It's definitely better than last week, but it still isn't growing as well as it would if more people would donate to my Giving Page! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I enjoyed some turkey and 'Stached-potatoes.

After one day of growth, I'm not looking too bad...you can hardly see it, but yes, hairs are sprouting.

Halloween - Juno-style

So we had an excellent Halloween, which included our awesome costumes as Juno and Paulie Bleeker (from the movie Juno, of course), Jerry and Sara coming over with pizza to help hand out candy to trick-or-treaters, Brett and his girlfriend Sarah hanging out, and a fun party with friends at which Lynne and I won the award for best couple's costume. Otis got in on the fun, too, and with the help of an action figure strapped to his back (Atreyu), he made an excellent Falkor.

Lynne's ourfit composed of clothing purchased one late-night at Wal-mart, along with actual positive pregnancy test.

We own a house!

It is finally official! We are now the happy owners of the wonderful home at 5438 N Capitol Ave., in Indianapolis! Since we've lived there for almost a year, it doesn't feel too different, just very releaving to know it is all done and we don't have to deal with irrational sellers and unprofessional sellers agents! Whoohoo, we are aging rapidly.

Mustaches Are (Apparently) Awesome!

Much to Lynne's dismay, starting in November I will be growing a mustache! Why, you ask (especially given that the Smiley clan is not well known for facial hair)? Because Mustaches for Kids is an awesome organization that benefits DonorsChoose.org! Mustaches for Kids (or M4K) is a national organization with chapters around the country which recruit men to grow mustaches for one month to benefit a charity. We are starting a brand new chapter in Indianapolis (http://www.m4kindy.blogspot.com/), and I will be actively participating. Of course, the goal is to raise donations through DonorsChoose.org, so I've created a Giving Page for the challenge (as all mustache growers will be doing). Check out the sidebar for a widget linking to my challenge page, and you can also access it here. Donations are greatly appreciated!

Growing season starts November 13th, but feel free to donate at any time. The official end of the growing season (and projected funeral for my 'stache) is December 13th, but I am planning on vowing to keep the mustache longer if I get a ton of donations.

I'm Super-Famous

Since no one has responded to the previous post, I'm thinking that no one reads our blog...but you should, because I'm super-famous, and a blog of a famous person should get lots of traffic! What, you don't think I'm a celebrity? Replay Photos begs to differ. Replay Photos is a new company that partners with different universities to sell pictures from their sporting events and various traditions, and this morning I had an e-mail advertising a $35 coupon to purchase a picture online, so I checked out the website to see what was available. Now everyone in the world can buy a picture of me holding an awesome sign (credits to Jason Shore on the artwork) and hang it in a prime place in their home. Shouldn't I get a cut of these profits?

Let This Year Be THE Year!

Yesterday, all was well in the realm of sport. Purdue football won (albeit narrowly), IU and Notre Dame football lost, and most importantly, the Chicago Cubs clinched their division and made the playoffs inback-to-back years for the first time in 100 years! In case you didn't know, this year also commemorates the 100 year anniversary of the last Cubs world championship. Here's hoping for 11 wins in October!

Business Trip to St. Louis = Cubs Win!

One of the perks of having to travel to St. Louis last week for work was the opportunity to see the Cubs play (and beat!) the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. It was my first time there, and it is a very nice new stadium right in the heart of downtown St. Louis. Fortunately, the Cubs were victorious (although it got close at the end), and I got to revel in the win with the multitude of Cubs fans in attendance.

Go Cubs Go!
