The Belly

So, to say the least it is strange to see your body change and I can't say that I am use to it yet! We have taken a few shots of the belly and for all you people far away here you go.

This was Thanksgiving and we had just found out it was a girl. I was about 19 weeks.

The last two were taken a few days ago at 29 weeks. My belly button has started to become an outie too!

Video!

So this is my first attempt to post video to the blog. For Christmas we got an amazing Sony Handycam, and I'm still figuring out all the awesome features. For now, enjoy this footage of Otis wrestling with Wesley just after Christmas.

The Baby is Going to Rock

And by rock, I mean musically, she's going to be pretty cool. We recently discovered an awesome CD series at the library called Rockabye Baby, and it's lullaby versions of songs from a variety of bands. Of course, we have now burned all of them (thanks Marion County!), as opposed to buying them for $10 each at Pottery Barn Kids. Some of the awesome artists she'll be enjoying soon: U2, Coldplay, The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day, Radiohead, The Beach Boys, No Doubt, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. The versions are all pretty mellow and done with tons of vibraphone action, but I know I can still get excited amid baby music now!

House Pictures

Due to popular demand, we realized we didn't have any pictures of the interior of our house posted, since we first moved into the place in 2007. Now that we actually own it, we haven't had to change much, but here are loads of pics for all of you who haven't been able to visit in person yet.
The master bedroom, showcasing Lynne's grandma's antique furniture we love

The master bedroom closets...it is so very nice to have separate his and hers walk-in closets!

Another view of the master bedroom. This room was the last to be painted (it was originally a green color that clashed with the furniture), and Lynne had exhausted most of her budget, so the color was an interesting cheap "mis-mixed" color from Lowe's. We ended up pretty happy with it.

The bed in the guest room (soon to be the baby's room, which will definitely be a new paint job). This was one of only two rooms we didn't have to paint originally.

Another view of the guest room, showcasing some of the baby's bedding laid out on the chair. This room will look very different by March!

This blue buffet table is usually found in our family room, but it had to be moved for the Christmas tree. Eventually there will be a nice changing table, crib, dresser, etc. in this room.

A small little halway between the master and guest room and main bathroom. Above (not pictured) is an attic-based house fan, which is pretty cool (literally).

Master bathroom. The only thing we don't like is the black and white tile and the two wall sconces which we are selling on craiglist. The mirror was one we purchased at a garage sale, as the old mirror (which matched the sconces) was pretty ugly.

The four-seasons room, which enters into the dining room

Another view of the four-seasons room and table

The four-seasons room. This is where Otis eagerly waits to great one of us when we come home.

A view of half of our kitchen

Another view of the kitchen. We love how spacious it is (especially compared to many other houses built in this era in the neighborhood.

Another kitchen angle. The door pictured leads to the basement stairs.

The dining room, complete with the beautiful antique furniture that belonged to Lynne's great-grandmother.

A reverse-view of the dining room

My wall of bookcases in the office. One of my favorite things about our house. I love it! And the Indiana Jones poster is only temporary, but it was fun that it came out on our anniversary and they were giving out free posters. Something so fitting about a house in Indy having a poster of the ultimate "Indy." :)

A view of my desk and some more built-in bookshelves in the office

Another view in the office. The door leads to a walk-in closet (every bedroom has a walk-in!). This walk-in houses a lot of the things that graced my room at ATO. Once the baby is born, this room will become our guest room and the desk will likely be moved to the basement.

A view of the family room with Otis sitting in his favorite spot

Another view of the family room and fireplace. You can see the tree poking out, too.

This our half-bath, which is right inside the front door, off the family room and entryway.
Not pictured is our basement, which is pretty clean and will be 2/3 finished in 6-18 months. The basement is as big of the house, so it gives us a ton of room to be creative and add a play area for the baby, an office, and a rec room. We feel so blessed that everything worked out for us to own this home, and we hope to enjoy it for many years (and a couple kids?) to come!

Timber!

So the day before Christmas Eve proved to be quite eventful. Lynne received a call at about 4:45pm, from our awesome neighbor Meg, informing us that our other neighbor's dead tree, which lives dangerously close to our garage, had broke in the storm and landed in our backyard. Miraculously, the huge limb missed our garage by about 6 inches, and the length of the tree spanned our entire yard yet fell diagonally, avoiding our house. It knocked out all of our power and cabling, but that was fixed by 9:30pm, despite a rain and ice storm. Huge thanks to our other neighbor, Alisha, too, for letting us hang out at her place (and Otis played with Izzy). Kirk spent about two hours in the rain cutting off the smaller branches and then inching the tree across the yard so that we could put our cars in the garage and avoid the stormy weather. By borrowing his dad's chainsaw, he's turning this accident into some nice firewood, too. Here's hoping our neighbor gets his two remaining dead trees taken care of so that they don't crush our garage!

Christmas 2008!

This year we celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at our home in Indianapolis. It was wonderful and relaxing, iand it was great to go to Common Ground for Christmas Eve church. On Christmas day, we drove up to West Lafayette to celebrate with Kirk's immediate family, grandparents, and Heinze cousins. It was a lot of fun and good to see everyone, and Otis had a lot of fun with Poco and Bailey, too. We look forward to celebrating with Lynne's parents in the coming days. Below our some pictures of our Christmas decorations.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Christmas Party

Last Saturday we got together with our wonderful church small group for Christmas party, complete with a white elephant gift exchange, tons of food, and lots of singing. Kelley had the joy of choosing the present that I brought, which included a small tin filled with my mustache hair from earlier this month. She was thrilled, I could tell.

To top it all of, our friends Ryan and Emily got engaged! The gift exchange was rigged so that Emily would be forced to choose a small gift at the end, and as she opened the ring box, Ryan got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. It was really well done! Congrats you two!

Mustache Madness

So the month of growing a mustache is over. Our Indianapolis chapter raised over $5,300 for local studentsm and placed 7th out of 26 cities! Saturday night was the 'Stache Bash in Broad Ripple, and it was a great time. Check out some more pics on Facebook. Can't wait for next year!

Girls All Around!

About a month ago I traveled to Illinois to my college roommate, Jill's, baby shower. She is due with her first in early January and having a little girl named Hailey. At the time of the shower I was about 18 weeks and didn't yet know what we were having. Once Jill found out that we were also going to be buying pink she said that the girls could be college roommates one day too! Jill was the best roommate I every had and I miss her greatly as she is now in Georgia. I hope to see her again soon. It is strange to think that a few years ago we were at her college graduation, a few years later in each others weddings, and now getting big together too!

Ho Ho Ho

Saturday night was our neighbor's (Larry and Katie) party with some friends with little children, and they needed someone to play Santa Claus. Kirk happily donned the red and white and brought 4 cute little kids gifts for being good boys and girls. It was a lot of fun, and afterwards we made a realy appearance and hung out with our fun neighbors and their terrific kids. It only took 2 pillows and a sweatshirt to give Kirk the girth he needed to play Santa. Afterwards, he visited our other neighbors for a suprise Santa appearance. Alisha, with her newborn Preston, took many pictures of him on Santa's lap.
